To Support Your Wellness

Counselling is great – but counselling is not community. At Venturous, we prioritize community care and collective healing as a fundamental aspect to wellness. Because “the truth is, none of us can be free until everybody is free” – Maya Angelou. Come join us in our mission to support our shared community through events that contribute to collective liberation and resistance efforts!

Second Annual Communities of Care: Year Together

Who will I meet today that I didn’t know yesterday?

Join us for Connection Quest — a day dedicated to curiosity, collaboration, and meaningful connections across Vancouver!

Communities of Care returns this year with an inspiring new theme: Connection Quest. This special event invites you to step outside your comfort zone and into the heart of community life.

Attendees will be organized into groups and guided through interactive experiences designed to spark conversation, ignite creativity, and foster meaningful connections. Together, you’ll engage with local community organizations that are working tirelessly to strengthen and uplift Vancouver’s neighbourhoods.

From connections to creation – Hosted by Lulu Lomein, this vibrant event will showcase local drag, poetry, comedy, and music performances centered on community, creating unforgettable moments. Plus, join us for an onsite community painting that captures the spirit of the day in real time!

Location: The Birdhouse

Date & Time: March 29, 2026 | 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Community Care

Centering Connection, Nurturing Change.

Last year, the first annual Communities of Care raised $1,160 to directly support Palestinian resistance efforts

Our first community event, The Feeling United Drag Show Fundraiser, raised over $1,800 for Prospect Counselling, an organization offering lower-cost counselling to SDQTBIPOC+ communities.

This year, your attendance and contributions will directly support Distro Disco, a mutual aid grassroots community organization dedicated to supporting our unhoused community members.

How You Can Help:

Event Accessibility

Here’s what to know

We’re committed to making Communities of Care a safer space for everyone in attendance.

  • Gender-Inclusive Bathrooms – Gender-inclusive restrooms will be available on site. We are currently verifying the dimensions and mobility supports available for access.
  • Mask Mandate – Masks are required at this event to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees. Extra KN95 masks will be available on-site. Thank you for your solidarity with our immunocompromised kin.
  • Live Stream of Performances – Enjoy live performances from home via our accessible live stream, bringing the community and creativity directly to you, no matter where you’re joining from.
  • More info on The Birdhouse’s Accessibility

*Please note: As there will be food and drinks provided, we may not be able to ensure 100% mask policy adherence, 100% of the time. We understand this will impact accessibility for folx looking to attend this event. As part of our efforts to create safer spaces, volunteers will make rounds to remind participants of the mask policy.

We are uninvited settlers

Our relationship with these lands dictates our commitment to understanding and responding to the ongoing impacts of colonization in our practices in and out of the counselling room.
